Description
Join us for a fun-filled week of creativity and learning at Ulna Studio’s Summer Youth Art Camp! Our camp is designed to ignite the artistic spark in young minds and provide a hands-on experience working with local artists and the creative process. Participants can expect to create art on themes like abstract art, self portraits, some color theory, and play with different mediums and artistic styles. This is a great opportunity for teens to connect with each other and the wider Portland community about art.
All skill levels are welcome in this class – we’re here to explore your intrinsic talent and unique creative identity while being inspired by the work of local artists.
Spaces are limited, so sign up today!
*Materials are included in class cost. Students should bring lunch and a water bottle.
About the instructor:
Christine “Teeny” Conway wants to invite students on the journey to discover what it means to be an artist and how we can use our intrinsic creativity to heal ourselves and the world around us. Teeny has spent most of the last 10 years working as a Portland Public Schools elementary school teacher, as well as teaching art to middle and high school students at Pacific Crest Community School. In those years, Teeny witnessed in their students an inherent desire to play, create, and build off one another’s ideas. They enjoy making a wide variety of art – featuring bold colors and lines, big feelings, abstract shapes, paint, colored pencils, paper collage, woodblock prints, poetry, the list goes on and on (and will keep going on forever and ever).
About the classroom space:
Ulna studio is a creative space located on the 2nd floor of the Portland Storage Building at 215 SE Morrison St. There is elevator access upon arrival for your in-person class, but exiting students have the option to walk down a stairway.
