Expressive Hands: Sculpting Demo with Jai Sallay-Carrington

Join us for an exclusive demonstration with special guest artist Jai Sallay-Carrington, who is visiting the studio from their home base in Canada, following their presentation at the NCECA conference this year! In this session, Jai will guide you through the process of sculpting a life-size human hand in an expressive gesture, focusing on realistic proportions, dynamic poses, and fine details.

The demonstration will explore various techniques, including building solid forms and hollowing them out, as well as integrating slab and coil construction. Jai will share insights on how to capture the subtleties of human anatomy and create lifelike, compelling gestures in clay.

This demo is a wonderful opportunity to observe, learn, and be inspired by Jai’s unique approach to figurative sculpture. With a shorter time commitment and accessible pricing, it’s the perfect way to deepen your artistic knowledge and connect with an internationally known working clay artist and the Radius Art Studio community.
