Description

In this class, students will learn how to build their own DIY handheld frame loom, suitable for any level of skill. Students will be given fundamental terminology, as well as techniques that are transferable to many different types of looms and weaving styles. Students will use these techniques to create their own wall hangings, and will be encouraged to use experimental media within their tapestries.

There is something refreshing and beautiful about being a beginner at something. Weaving can start to feel very rigid and technical – in this class, students will see how accessible and non-judgemental weaving can be, and feel supported enough in their own learning modes to ask questions, play, experiment, access informational resources, and ultimately feel empowered to begin their projects.
