Description
This in-person class is designed for beginner painters looking to build foundational skills and gain hands-on experience. New painters will learn to build an acrylic painting from scratch, and mix colors while developing your ability to evaluate value and composition. The atmosphere is welcoming and informative, fostering artistic growth through live demonstrations and real-time insights from Cole into the creative process.
We will be talking design and composition as well, and drawing in class not just painting. As an instructor, Cole is here to help students address artist blocks, and model how to create time and space for a nourishing art practice. Cole also reminds all the students that art isn’t that serious and to have fun. If you have fun the art will be better.
A materials list will be provided.
Some supplies would be canvas paper pad/or watercolor pad 11×14″+
A few brushes, at least one larger 1″ brush
Sketchbook, drawing materials like pens or pencils.
Acrylic paints(titanium white, cadmium yellow, cadmium red, ultramarine blue, burnt or raw umber)
About the instructor: Cole is a painter and visual artist based in Portland Oregon. Nature is the biggest influence in Cole’s art especially now that natural disasters are ever increasing with climate change. Making observations, interpretations, and communicating the forms of nature that he thinks should be preserved and cherished is his goal. He wants to create excitement about preservation through visual interest by bringing the feelings and emotions associated in nature. Cole studied illustration at the Academy of Art in San Francisco and has a Bachelors of Arts in Art History from Portland State University.
