Description

Get your work fired in our Cone 10 gas kiln: NOW OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC

Cost: 1 cubic ft for $55 | 2 cubic ft for $100 | 5 cubic ft for $250

All pieces must be bisque-fired, measured, and glazed (unless you are signed up for the glaze session) when you drop them off at the studio during open hours. You must include an inventory list of each piece and its measurements in cubic inches. To calculate the cubic inches of each piece, use the formula Length x Width x Height = cubic inches. The minimum purchase is 1 cubic foot (one cubic foot is 1728 cubic inches).

Drop Off: Drop off glazed (ready to be fired) work during our open hours, by Thursday, October 24th at the latest for this firing.

***NOTE ABOUT GLAZING: We are offering a glazing session on Thursday, October 24th from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm. This will be an informative session where Lela (our glaze tech and one of the instructors teaching our reduction wheel throwing class) will be there to answer questions and help walk you through some of the glazing processes. You will also have access to all our cone 10 studio glazes and other equipment and materials necessary for glazing.

Cone 10 clay and glazes only. Firing ^10 work for the general public is new to us, so please let us know if you have questions or feedback about this listing. We look forward to firing you treasures!

Note about size of work: If you have pieces over 12 inches tall, it’s a good idea to plan to have enough to fill an entire shelf at that height, or coordinate with others to have a full shelf. If that’s not possible your pieces may take longer to go through the kiln as we need a full shelf of things at the same height to not waste kiln space. If you have pieces 12 inches wide, (for example plates), and you have many of them, they may take more than one cycle to all make it through the kiln as we can only fit 2 plates per shelf.  Feel free to contact us if you have questions!

Want to learn more about Reduction/ manual gas firing? You can take the optional firing workshop that is in conjunction with this firing. We are offering a special discounted rate to those who have purchased space in the firing!

****Firing dates are subject to change due to weather conditions, extreme wind is a fire hazard. Participants will be notified via email of any changes.
