Description
This 5 week “open to your creative nature” intensive will provide an opportunity to work on independent painting projects in acrylic, oil, or other mediums of your choice. The intention of this class is to support and challenge students to explore their relationship with art. There will be technique based demos weekly. At the same time we will with curiosity create a space for artistic learning, showing by example in real-time the practice and thought process of being an artist. This class will have deeper focus on group space and time to share and talk about art. As an instructor, Jolyn is here to help students address artist blocks, and model how to create time and space for a nourishing art practice. While students may choose to be inspired by natural subjects this class is about the nature of painting rather than specifically painting nature. Students will have the option of using the room all day. Group art share and reflection will take place every week of class.
Note: On October 13th class will have an afternoon field trip to local museum or galleries.
Returning students who would like to do just a one-week drop in should reach out to the instructor directly to make arrangements. Please note: This is not an introductory course. If you are new to painting consider signing up for Introduction to painting. Mediums outside of painting..such as collage or print arts are welcome. About the new classroom space: Ulna studio is a creative space located on the 2nd floor of the Portland Storage Building on SE Morrison St. There is elevator access for arrival to your in person class.
